Financial Prosperity

Financial Prosperity-A Biblical understanding

Deu 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Understanding prosperity on every scale is understanding covenant. We see the relationship between covenant and prosperity in this particular verse in Deuteronomy that takes us automatically to Gal 3.13,14 in the New Testament. Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Gal 3:15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. Gal 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise

It is important to read these verses and absorb what they are saying to us because they are the key to understanding God's promises to us, one of which is financial prosperity. By understanding covenant, we will understand God's obligations, which are His promises. Many Christians are under a curse concerning financial prosperity because they have not appropriated the promises. They have instead allowed curses to operate through neglect and wrong confession. There are many reasons for poverty and financial strangulation. They range from curses on individuals and families that are self-imposed and self confessed to witchcraft that someone else has placed on them. Then there is a lack of understanding of how to be in self-control over their finances. This lack of self-control leads them to debt, slavery, and poverty. Living beyond one's means is another clear example of always chasing the dollar to make ends meet. Added to all this is ignorance and laziness. Others are not interested and will lead lives trying to live within their means or in lack never realising that God has more for them. God's blessings to Abraham was to make him rich. The wealth of the wicked was added to him and his own wealth multiplied because of God's blessings. Though the Bible warns us about pursuing money and making it a god, we are told that we are rich in Christ Jesus through the blessings He has for us in His glory. Php 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. This means in God's glory are many riches and He is willing to give it to us according to our needs and even our desires. Appropriating God's wealth with the right intention is critical. Wealth in the modern day context is being misused by many preachers and the gospel of wealth know as "The Prosperity Gospel" has ruled for many years in the Church driving many Christians to believe that this is what God wants for them all the time. Many preachers have started out well only to end up in this rut of the love of money. They talk about it all the time and live opulent lives while many go starving and find it difficult to make ends meet.

True Biblical wealth is for the purposes of blessing the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God has many needs of which one is wealth distribution. God's own heart is that we take care of the widows and orphans who have a genuine need. I have found a secret to my own prosperity through this knowledge when God spoke to me out of Isa 58:7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Isa 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Isa 58:9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; Isa 58:10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:

These verses precede the six promises that are there in Isa 58.11. When God spoke to me about this, I appropriated this instruction by helping orphans and widows financially. As a result, financially blessings came to me in many supernatural ways that boggle the mind. Secondly, by appropriating the $58 seed concept, I saw even more financial miracles. First, $1000 in cash appeared in my Bible, then someone gave me a $15,000 cheque and that was followed up later by a $20,000 cheque. This continued through the years as I appropriated the $58 seed blessing. The lesson is; there are blessings to be gained from God in many ways. Giving is a key to receiving blessings but appropriating by faith the promises of God is equally powerful. We must learn to appropriate the promises of God by faith in what He did in breaking every curse and making us joint heirs with Jesus. Now is the time to break out of the grip of poverty, lack, misunderstanding, and come into the blessings. Giving God tithes (a tenth of all your income before tax) is a first step to receiving God's promises in your life. After that, there are many more promises of God that speak of receiving blessings. These blessings may not all take the form of cash but will certainly improve your lifestyle. You can be given homes, cars and other material benefits that you would not have otherwise been able to get through your own power of earning.

Over the years, I have received three free cars and given away the same. I have been blessed with tens of thousands of dollars at one time in supernatural ways. I have seen money multiply when I have prayed over it. I have seen money appear dramatically and supernaturally. I have had dreams of financial blessings and then it has happened according to the dreams. God has always supplied all my needs in 16 years of living by faith while travelling the world preaching the gospel without support, income or any other method of earning money. We have been given free airline tickets for life because of Anoja's ex-job at Emirates,

which allows us to travel to six countries as a result. When she turns 60 yrs of age, we get another four tickets at 10% of the cost and we have been given free clothes and bought ridiculously cheap clothes because of God's blessings. The list goes on and on of God's incredible provision because we have trusted Him alone for our finances. Psa 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. I am sharing all this with you not to boast in my blessings but to boast in my God who is the Jehovah Jireh (provider) who taught me to trust Him.

When you have a determination in your heart that you will never lack, then you will also learn to live within God's blessings and not desire or covet what you do not need and think you should have. Many have lost their way with God because they have sought for more and more until their greed completely controls them. They work at two and three jobs, they borrow, and they crave and never have. What is surprising to me is, what man will not do with what he has. Some are hoarders, others are stingy and many are fearful and so they never sow. If you do not sow, you will never reap and what you have will be eaten by inflation. It is critical to allow the flow of money into your hands and out of your hands while maintaining a balance and a reserve. The Jews teach their children at a very young age to control their finances and not to be controlled by money. One should give 10% to God, save 10%, give offerings of 10%, and spend the rest as needed. You will be amazed at what you can save and have left over for a later time in life. Debt is a curse and should never be allowed in your home. The debt I am talking about is not home loans but borrowing for daily need. Credit cards are a sure way of getting into debt. Lack, poverty, and debt are folly as a result of misunderstanding God's word.

Isa 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. Isa 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Isa 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

The verse above are screaming at us all the time about the victory of Jesus on the cross that has released the glory of His riches. In addition to that, it speaks of a preparedness we need to have. This gross darkness is also a financial burden and curse that the world is going through and will go through in greater ways they have never experienced before. Money shortage and high prices will become an issue, which will bring in the world system of the anti-Christ. He will issue his own system of buying and selling which will enslave people to him. Without his mark 666, no one will be able to buy or sell. We need to give future generations God's wisdom, not money because money will have no value but power and man's favour will which will make man indebted to one another. It is in these times that we need to understand who God is as our Provider. Third world countries suffer poverty and lack on a mass scale. This is because they do not practise common sense and well-being for the people. They blame it on numbers and other issues but the truth is; corruption looms on a large scale. The only reason politicians seek their positions is because they can make much money from bribes and deals using their power. True giving belongs to the one who knows what, when and where to sow. There are several ways one can sow and there are several reasons one sows. The woman at the temple sowed all that she had left, which was two mites. The Samaritan sowed when he picked up the beaten man on the road and looked after him and paid for his stay at the tavern. The Jews sowed their tithes and first fruit offerings to God. The Jews also sowed in giving of alms to beggars, which was their reasonable service. When reaping the harvest, the Jews would leave some of the crops that fell to the ground, so that the poor could glean the land and live. Giving to good causes is another way of sowing. The Jews brought their jewels and gold for the building of the temple in the wilderness. In the modern day context, one should seek to do all of the above and actually do it cheerfully because God loves a cheerful giver. One must always be seeking an opportunity to sow. The rewards are immeasurable.

Our God is a great Provider and will bless His people and never leave them to starve. He is a Carer and a Provider. All the wealth in heaven and on earth belongs to Him. His promises are yeah and amen in Christ Jesus. He will fulfil His word and never depart from it. Thanksgiving is a critical aspect of receiving from God both financial and material blessings He has for us. When we trust Him and surrender all our decision making to Him in the way we should conduct our lives financially, He will always instruct us on how we can prosper. Many go to Him with a plan to bless but few ask Him what His plan is and then seek His blessings on that.

Some are blessed with wealth. They must be accountable to God for that. When Jesus asked the rich young ruler to give up his possessions, he could not do so. He deemed them more important than salvation. The god of mammon had set him up through the love of money. The god of mammon has joined with the jezebel spirit and leviathan spirit in a great way to attack the church. Many have fallen and many will fall because of this. It is not money that is evil but the love of it. One can only know the difference by what one is willing to give up in their lives. The rich man in the story of the Bible ate and enjoyed his life on earth while Lazarus the beggar waited for crumbs at the rich man's gate. Both died and the rich man went to hell while Lazarus went to heaven. This is a picture of the Church in the last days. May God open your eyes. One of the lessons we can learn from this story is, not to squander our wealth but bless those who are less fortunate. The poor will always be with us but God keenly watches what we do about it. Let us learn the secret of blessing the poor.

Stay on guard regarding your finances, the practise of it, and the attitudes you have toward it. It speaks a lot about who you really are. Do not let the devil steal your finances and blessings. Walk righteously with God about money and He will prosper your ways.

With love
