A Thousand
2Pe 3:8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The concept of a thousand takes on very powerful meaning when applied into our daily lives. The very word thousand speaks of a volume much larger than what we are used to dealing with on a regular basis. If someone asked us a thousand dollars, we would hesitate to give it to that person more than, if he had asked a hundred dollars. This word thousand has a psychological barrier to our thinking when it comes to believing God or ourselves when required to operate in the “thousands” realm of the Spirit. The Old Testament believers did not have a problem with this concept. They often blessed in the thousands and expected it to come to pass as well. Deu 1:11(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!) This particular blessing came to pass on Israel and they multiplied and grew strong in numbers and purpose as a nation. Their wealth and material well being increased in the thousands as well. The pronounced blessing always carried with it the fulfilment of the blessing. This is very important to understand when we bless. There is authority and faith attached to the pronouncing of a blessing. The higher the authority of the person who blesses, the more powerful the blessing is. We see that in the faith of the Centurion who approached Jesus. He had come to the highest Authority in the Universe and therefore received an incredible blessing for his servant who was not even there. When I came to understand this form of blessing, I appropriated it and caused it to produce in the lives of others as much as I did for myself. I once blessed a brother in the Lord whose car had blown up and was in strife with financial constraints in his life because of a large family to support and no job. I felt to bless him with a $111 according to the number of the verses in Deuteronomy 1.11. I struggled with it at first because I felt maybe my flesh was telling me to do it but the longer I delayed the more apparent it became that I should be giving this blessing to him. Finally, I did it and prayed over the recipient and blessed him about the car saying; ‘You will receive thousands to buy a car’. Not even a few days had passed, when someone from his church blessed him with over $5000. This payed for his car and registration. He also found a car for that exact amount of money that he was given and which could accommodate his family and allow him to continue his ministry.
There is a secret in every single verse of the Bible. We just have to find it. Why does God bury His secrets in the word this way? Why not make it plain reading? It is so because it is only for His children to find out. Otherwise, everyone would benefit from it. Even now, many in the world have discovered the power of God’s word but are using it to make money for themselves. Whilst it is benefitting them in this world, it will not benefit them for the world to come. For us, who are His children, this word is good in this life time and the one to come.
The thousand and the multiples of a thousand concept is evident through out the Bible. In spiritual warfare, it speaks of the power of one and the power of two people. Deu_32:30How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up? Psa_91:7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. It is a long standing secret that God has given us power. Yet, many people do not understand this power and how to receive it. It is always in simplicity that you will begin to see power move. God is on our side and without Him we can do nothing. This is the simple truth. We have to learn that when God sends us into battle, He is not afraid for our lives. Only we are. He does not care about the numbers or size of the enemies facing His people. When David the shepherd boy went up against Goliath, he did not just go up against one; he went up against thousands who were represented by one. The devil is one and has thousands of demons. When you get to the root demon, you would have destroyed thousands under his command like in the case of the Gadarene who had a legion cast out of him by Jesus. That is one way to rout thousands of demons at the same time. Get the strong man and you got the rest. Deal with the root problem not the branch. Branches grow back and so the problem never goes away and often gets worse.
In continuing the concept of a thousand and the multiplication of it, we see a thousand year rule and reign of Jesus that we refer to as the Millennium. If one day is a thousand years and a thousand years one day with God then what is the length of the Millennium? Interesting thought. However, what we need to focus on is; we will be with Christ in this reign of His on earth. We will have a thousand years to do what we did not do or could not do on earth before the Millennium. That to me is a time worth having before the final judgement. We will be in glorious bodies and we will have authority like never before. I believe it will be a time when we will learn the most we have ever learnt about God.
Then there is the time of the appearance of Jesus in heaven before thousands of His ministering agents Dan_7:10A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. Rev_5:11And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; What a concept of numbers. It is impossible to find a calculator that will count the multiple of thousands. God is so big that we cannot imagine that He would show Himself to us in the form of Jesus and get us to see Him high and lifted up in this way. We are privileged beyond anything or anybody else in all of creation because we are made in the image of Jesus. Wow! Wow! Wow!
Maybe you feel something is taking too long in your life to come to pass. Think of the patience of God and Job. Jas 5:8Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Jas 5:9Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. Jas 5:10Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Jas 5:11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Many people have never seen the end of their blessings because they have not waited on God. They think He should act in their time. God has patience toward mankind and for a very good reason. His plan is to save mankind. Till all who have to come to Him are in, even the unborn ones, He will continue to show patience and that could mean a thousand years or more. So, let us be patient and understand that what seems to be taking so long can also be undertaken by God in a day. Nations have fallen and arisen in a day. Isa_66:8Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
My advice to all of us is; be patient and what seems to be taking so long can be to our advantage. The thousand time concept is very much in a working mode right now on earth. God is fulfilling His plans in this time. I have often pushed my plans because I wanted them done in a day, only to fall flat on my face and then have to start all over again in life, which took years to restore. In that time, so much heartache and suffering was endured by me and others. I only survived by the grace of God. I could have quit life a thousand times and done something that would have destroyed me, all of which I did, but God was patient with me and brought me into a beautiful place.
Today, the world is going the way of man and the devil because it looks for perpetuity in itself. They have argued that our faith in Christ produces nothing and that this world will continue on without God. 2Pe_3:4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. Little do they know that God has His own timing about everything and He is not governed by time. Yet, he sees it fit to tell us of events and prophetically places it in time slots. The events of today are just prophesy being played out. Each events tell us that God is near to ending it all for this generation. I believe there is much more to go yet. I am praying that I can leave behind a legacy for future generations. What I am doing now is for the years ahead. How long that will be I cannot say for sure. All I can be sure of is that the Lord is coming back soon for His church and soon. Are we prepared or are we preparing to stay on this earth permanently? Many live lives as though they are going to live forever on this earth. All their plans are geared toward that. They push aside the thought of eternity and do not prepare for it in this lifetime.
