Release the Power of God in You
From the Pastor’s heart
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Eph 3:21Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
The hour is upon us friends to use the power of God within us to get things done. This has reached critical proportions as we see evil abound. Traditionally, when power has been used, it has upset the religious zealots because it showed them up as legalists who only believed in the word and not in the power of the word. Apostle Pauls says it this way; Co 3:6Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. Apostle Paul was constantly battling people who loved the law and the letter of the word more than the life giving power of God. Apostle Paul was also quite upset with many who after having experienced the power of the Spirit turned back to the law. Gal 3:1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? Gal 3:2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Gal 3:3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Gal 3:4Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. Gal 3:5He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? He questioned the justification of their reasoning and asked how they had become bewitched. That is to say; who had placed witchcraft on them that they would not believe in the power of the Holy Spirit anymore.
My friends, many of us can move in power and we do so from time to time while others crave for this power but do not seem to be able to get it. (Maybe they are seeking it the wrong way like Simon the Sorcerer or out of frustration and ignorance). In any case, the concerns I hold for the Church these days are more to do with the dormant power of God in many Christians. Such people are seeking for answers from God and never getting them because they have ignored the power within them. Only recently I was told of a person who has had so many victories in releasing others in his ministry only for himself to become powerless in his own personal family situation. This hopelessness has brought him to question God while living in despair and defeat. He feels he has been let down by God. His enemy has caused him to lose confidence in Christ whom he confesses. I ask you; what seems to be the problem? I believe, he has turned back to the flesh instead of the Spirit and has forgotten that God is able to do more than he can even ask (pray) or think (imagine even). He has forgotten that the Spirit of God lives in him. He has allowed the power of the Holy Spirit to become dormant inside of him instead of reaching inside like Jesus advised the Samaritan woman. Jesus said to her that the Spirit will be like a well within her. So, in order to draw water from the well we need a vessel. That vessel is the word. The word is Spirit and life.
I have watched many ministers fail their ministry because they did not know how to contain or retain the power within them. They failed because they did not understand that the Excellency of power is of God in earthen vessels. Many others who were anointed have sat in the wings of the Church only to be suppressed by zealous leaders who did not understand or recognize the power in them and in some cases have even become jealous of the anointing in them and as a result supressed them.
It is my hope to find anointed men and women of God and do an Apostle Paul to Timothy on them. That is to stir them up. (These must be committed people who will go all the way with God.) That is to say; not only stir up the gift in them but to teach them that they must live in this power and increase till Kingdom comes. To do this, I am always looking out for people who have this potential in them. When I find them, I seek to release them in their calling, gifting and destiny.
The key to real power as I have discovered it is, submission to God and a willing heart to constantly be taught by the Holy Spirit no matter who He uses or what circumstances He uses. To avail of this form of teaching we must die to self. You will often find that God requires you to walk in a way which seems precarious and dangerous but in actual fact is very safe to the one who trusts God. This is the abandonment principle. The key to abandonment is death to self. When we speak of abandonment we speak on this wise.
1. Abandonment to God
2. Abandonment of this world
3. Abandonment of self (desires, past victories, losses and knowledge)
4. Abandonment of another (wife, family etc.)
5. Abandonment to the Anointing
There is nothing more disturbing to a soul when they discover that in order for power to work effectively, there comes a greater abandonment to the above mentioned areas. Each time the Holy Spirit urges us to go to another level in Him, we find this abandonment principle at work. More and more things keep dropping off till we find ourselves helplessly in His arms being carried wherever He may take us. Joh 3:8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Apostle Paul knew this principle in serving God. Act 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Act 20:23Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. Act 20:24But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Many of us have journeyed through this life and have not known sometimes where we may end up or what may befall us. Yet, God has been in the mix guiding us to where we are now. I believe that many have not allowed God to guide them but have chosen and made decisions in the flesh that have brought them to this place where they are now physically, spiritually and mentally. We need to admit that to ourselves and re-vision our journey from now on. The greatest gift I believe is TRUST. This attitude in a person toward God releases the individual from all care in the world. The responsibility for this life then unfolds through obedience and faith and listening to the Holy Spirit and only doing what He says to do. I believe that the way God can do more than we ask or think is to dig deep into the resident power of the Holy Spirit in us and call upon Him who is within each one of us who believe. That way, one does not have to plan what to say, do or even think. He just begins to flow out of us. That is why Jesus said; “Out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water”. This He spoke about in reference to the Holy Spirit within us in the inner man where we are strengthened to know His love and being.
The time has come for all of us to release the full potential of our lives. Maybe, we have allowed the enemy and circumstances to intimidate us or hold us back but God is releasing many people in these last days into the legitimacy of the gospel because they have come to the place of TRUST and ABANDONMENT. I urge you to go all the way with God in every area of your life. This life is only temporary; so, holding on to it is not a wise decision in the light of who God is. Rather, abandoning oneself to a future in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit is the answer.
Whatever you do, don’t try to gain something for yourself in this life. It is a subtle deception of the enemy to make you believe that you can only be happy if this life goes well for you in the natural and in your spiritual life. The truth is an entirely different matter. When God calls you and saves you, He is bringing you to Himself. That journey of going to God through this evil world is a very different proposition to what the world would offer you. God has His own ways and His ways and thoughts are not the same as ours. I have learnt that my situations and trials in life are stepping stones to greater advancement in the Kingdom of God. I am teaching you deep principles that can be applied in daily living thereby bringing you release and joy. Great contentment awaits those who can abandon themselves into the hands of the living God.
I urge you to consider who lives inside of you and get to know Him as your Mentor, Guide, Counsellor, Comforter, the power of God in you and the Doer of the word. He can do and will do more than you can imagine. Imagination is limited and hopes are limited but God is always unlimited. We have to get this mental picture of the Supreme endless power of God that loves us.
Lots of love Abandonment is TRUST
