Are we connected to our "Head"
Each and every one of us have something in common whether we are saved or sinner. We all have a head without which we cannot live.
The French made use of a device that principally effected this principle to that in their own sight was great. However, the people that came under that device thought it was something that should be done away with; it was the guillotine. It effectively divided the head from the body ending in a cruel death.
Dividing the body from the head is something that will always cause death, this is something that we all know and understand, in the natural at least. But do we understand the same thing in the Spiritual sense.
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 1:22-23 that JESUS is the Head over the Church: and the Church is the Body of CHRIST JESUS. Eph 1:22 And He has put all things under His feet and GAVE HIM TO BE HEAD OVER ALL THINGS TO THE CHURCH,
Eph 1:23 WHICH IS HIS BODY, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Most people within the Church realise that JESUS is the head over the Church, which begs the question that we need to ask ourselves; "are we connected to the one who is the head over us?"
The unfortunate people who endured the fate of the Guillotine have had no say as to when the blade was to fall on them separating the head from their body. However, there are people that we know who have willingly and unwittingly in their own timing, separated themselves from the Head that gives them Eternal life.
Therefore, the question remains to us; have we also separated ourselves, to a greater or lesser degree, from our Head, whose name is JESUS?
In all human beings, when the body needs to do something it is dependent on the Head to dictate when and how the body is to do whatever it is that is required to be done. For instance, the head cannot pick up a cup, the head cannot walk to a certain place by itself, and it always relies on the body to do the physical functions that allows the will of the head to become realities. Therefore, the head instructs the body to do what is needed for the body.
But how many of us do not allow that to be done when it comes to Spiritual things. For example, if the LORD says to us to go and tell a person that HE loves them, do we do it, or do we try to find excuses not to do what is required of us?
So, let us look at the pros and cons of doing what our Head has told us to do.
Pros.
If we are obedient we are blessed, and others are blessed.
Those blessings are not only in this world, but also in the world to come.
Heb 11:26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.
Because we are connected to the head through our obedience (and our faith), when we do good, it is the Head that gets the Glory as well as us. Therefore GOD is glorified when we do as we are told.
Cons.
Just as in natural it is in the spiritual. If we are dis-connected from our head, the result is death. In John 14:15 we see the connection between Loving CHRIST and obeying HIM. Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Obedience brings Salvation, dis-obedience does not.
Heb 5:9 And being perfected, He became the Author of eternal salvation
TO ALL THOSE WHO OBEY HIM,
Our LORD JESUS is the Head over all of those who have come to HIM in repentance and as a result HE does a great work within us to bring about the condition that we see in the following verse ( Eph 5:25 -27 ).
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it,
Eph 5:26 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,
Eph 5:27 that He might present it to Himself as the glorious church,
WITHOUT SPOT OR WRINKLE OR ANY SUCH THINGS,
BUT THAT IT SHOULD BE HOLY AND WITHOUT BLEMISH.
JESUS was sent to this Earth for a specific purpose, to bring each and every person who loves GOD, back to GOD.
Some might say, "But I didn't love GOD when HE called me to Salvation", and that's true: but GOD, who knows the beginning from the end, knew those who would Love HIM.
One day each and every one of us will stand before GOD after we have left this earth and when we do, what is it that you want to hear JESUS say regarding you (and this goes for me as well). Do we want to hear HIM say "away from ME, I never knew you" or do we want to hear HIM say, "Well done good and Faithful servant".
The LORD put the relationship between Husbands and Wives in Ephesians chapter five for a reason, so that we would take hold of the truth that HE is talking about the Church being HIS Bride, Husbands are to Love their Bride just as JESUS loves HIS Bride, the Church.
Now let us look at the verses that precede the ones looked at above,
Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife,
EVEN AS CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THE CHURCH;
AND HE IS THE SAVIOUR OF THE BODY.
JESUS is constantly working in each and every one of us so that at the final judgement HE can turn to the FATHER and say " "Father, I would like to introduce you to my spotless bride, isn't she beautiful".
As we see above, wives are to submit themselves to their husband and for each and every one of us who have called upon the Name of our LORD JESUS
for salvation we are to do the same because JESUS is our Husband. Therefore it is up to us to be fully submitted to HIM and to show HIM our Love
BY BEING SUBMITTED IN OBEDIENCE.
Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
If we all want to go on IN CHRIST JESUS, then, we must let our lives reflect the truth that HE is the Head over us and that we are the Body of CHRIST JESUS. This should always be how the world sees the Church, that we as the bride of Christ reveal our submission to our Head. We are to reflect all that HE IS and all that HE HAS DONE. Then, we will be able to tell them, and show them all that HE has promised them and us for all our futures.
