The Word of God

from the Pastor’s heart

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

There is a dilemma each person who is born on this earth has in determining what or who the word of God is. At some stage in one’s life, God becomes an important consideration; either to accept and pursue Him or reject Him. Though the rejection of God may not be total in nature, one can still reject God through unbelief in many areas of their lives. For example; His ability to supply all our needs.

The word as written for us in the Bible (the best selling book in the world) delivers and reveals God’s thoughts and ways toward us. This is accepted by many to be the truth and answer to life. Why should the word of God claim to answer life for human beings when we can reason for ourselves? Why should the word of God as described in the Bible be the only truth? These are questions always asked of all who are born at some stage in their lives. Those who do not see the need to understand who God is and pursue Him through the word, question His existence and motives. In a world of over seven billion people, the adherents to the Christian faith are not in great numbers. This is the same throughout history. Yet, the advocacy of the word of God has had much influence, controversy and determination in the way man’s conscience operates on a legal and personal level. One has to wonder why that is so.

I have often come across testimonies of people who have openly testified that they had been agnostics, atheists, un-believers, and believers in other faiths etc. who have openly declared that they have met God through Jesus. Added to this list are people who have lost their minds, been on all sorts of drugs, lived wayward lives, been financially ruined, emotionally distraught, even near death, diseased and even risen from the dead who have testified that they were healed by Jesus and acknowledge Him as God.

This brings us to who this word is. The word as written for us in the Bible is the pre-eminent gospel of truth to all who believe in Jesus truthfully and who adhere to it. Though there are many other books that speak of God and His Son Jesus, the Bible is adhered to for the truth. Now, the Bible if it is true must do all that the word says in it. This is the first and last test of the word of God. The words written in text form on pages of paper in ink cannot perform anything even though it is the Bible. If, it is not breathed upon by God Himself to make it real, it is invalid to the reader. There is good reason for this. The word is a living spiritual being that enters into and creates and gives life within an already created environment that is called the world. That word is Jesus.

Why attribute a name to the word? The importance of a name is; no other name can claim to be the word. If someone does; they must prove that they are God. This is the true test of all other faiths and people who claim to be Messiahs. No person in their right mind will follow a person who cannot prove what they say consistently. This is the way truth can be tested and God can be proven.

The word of God is His life’s blood to all created beings both visible and invisible. This magnitude of God is proven to mere mortals and spirits (good and evil) out of God’s own choice. He does not need to prove Himself to anyone but out of choice to reveal Himself to His creation, He sends His word. The existence and culmination of all life on earth and in heaven depend on His word. Col_1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Eph_1:10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

Every single word used in the Bible refers to Jesus. When the word is used and practised in the right way they come alive as Jesus, the manifestation of God. The past, present and future of all living things both visible and invisible culminate in the revelation of Jesus. 1Ti_3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Eph 3:10  To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

Why this is so is simply because God said; He was going to reveal Himself in this way to His creation. Without the word, one cannot know God even though they were created by Him. Nobody, including angels and human beings knew God in this way till Jesus who is the word was revealed. Jn 1:1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life1Jn 1:2  (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 1Jn 1:3  That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Once revealed, all living creatures bowed down and worshipped Him as God. Rev 5:13  And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Rev 5:14  And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever. Though God was worshipped before He revealed Himself through the word, He brought in a new worship to Himself, through Jesus. This is the revealed God. Why the change of image? This is a good question.

The image of God is revealed now in human form. We resemble Jesus as spirit beings as in the new man not made of flesh. What was God revealing to us by this change of image? I believe God was revealing begotten sons and daughters not created beings. The true nature of the word Jesus is,  He is the only begotten Son of God, not made. Likewise, all of creation who believed on the Son became sons and daughters of God through the revelation and acceptance of God as Jesus. This means, even angelic beings became just like us even though they were created. Rev 19:10  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy

The word of God is the only source of life that can never be exhausted in anyway. Many have tried to corrupt it and use it for their own benefit only to find out that it led to death and destruction. Even the slightest error in handling the word can cause grievous harm. This is not immediately apparent but it takes effective immediately. Adam & Eve who disobeyed God’s word found death eventually. Many after them have done the same. Those who lie speak 99% truth and infiltrate it either by design or error, with 1 % of lies. This kind of human reasoning can be dangerous. It is like taking 100 % pure mineral water and contaminating it with 1 % sewage and asking people to drink it. Unfortunately, many who do not see the water for what it is, fall into the trap of deceit and lies by reasoning that it is mostly truth; just like Adam & Eve.

One Pastor in Singapore decided after decades of Pastoring and building a body of believers to over seventeen thousand that he would practise magic to advance evangelism in the name of Jesus. It did not take long for him to be broken. Another built a mega church of over 40,000 people only to have his wife cast him in prison by her actions when she influenced him to divert funds from the church for her own worldly career. The list is long and sad of those who have misused the word for their own gain and imaginations. Even when you go to do well with the word, the right application must come into play. Otherwise, there will be no result or there will be counter results. 1Co 11:29  For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 1Co 11:30  For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (die). 1Co 11:31  For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

I am yet to see a person set free who has contaminated the truth through design, error or unbelief. This includes me, when I do not believe. I have often wondered how I am unable to receive the truth of the word often time and yet see others able to walk in that truth and be free. It is then that I have to admit that I am walking in unbelief. Though I believe who Jesus is and even acknowledge what He can do, for reason of unbelief mostly, I am unable to appropriate the truth the same way I see others operate in it. This makes me realise, I need to pursue the truth of the word in every area of my life.

The word of God is a living interactive person who is Spirit and who is God. One cannot afford to ignore Him just because He is invisible. If we seek Him in the written text, He must also manifest in life as such. He cannot be written in ink and contained in ink. Anyone who does that becomes legalistic and invites death to their doorstep. Throughout the annals of history many have found this to be true. Let us come and bow down to the word of God and ask God to give us His Holy Spirit that we might know who we worship and how to worship Him. This is wisdom and revelation Eph 1.17:23. Let us not be fooled or fool ourselves.

Lots of love
